APRA has released proposals to implement the Government's Retirement Reporting Framework, aimed at improving transparency regarding retirement outcomes and retirement product usage across the superannuation industry.
RegCentric has lodged a submission as part of the consultation process, drawing on our experience supporting APRA-regulated entities with prudential reporting implementation, data modelling and reporting operationalisation.
Our submission outlines several practical implementation considerations, including transition-based reporting requirements, cohort dimensionality, implementation timing and the treatment of highly derived metrics.
Key Themes
Transition-based reporting is materially more complex than conventional point-in-time collections.
Cohort dimensionality may increase implementation burden without always improving regulatory insight.
Highly derived metrics can create disproportionate implementation effort.
Commencing data capture prior to finalisation of standards risks inconsistency and retrospective reconstruction.
