APRA has released proposals to implement the Government's Retirement Reporting Framework, aimed at improving transparency regarding retirement outcomes and retirement product usage across the superannuation industry.

RegCentric has lodged a submission as part of the consultation process, drawing on our experience supporting APRA-regulated entities with prudential reporting implementation, data modelling and reporting operationalisation.

Our submission outlines several practical implementation considerations, including transition-based reporting requirements, cohort dimensionality, implementation timing and the treatment of highly derived metrics.

Key Themes

  • Transition-based reporting is materially more complex than conventional point-in-time collections.

  • Cohort dimensionality may increase implementation burden without always improving regulatory insight.

  • Highly derived metrics can create disproportionate implementation effort.

  • Commencing data capture prior to finalisation of standards risks inconsistency and retrospective reconstruction.
